Workfare & Job Seekers Allowance Claimants Public Meeting – Thursday 5th July, 7pm @ St Peter’s Church Hall, Staines

Being pressured into a mandatory work scheme? Having trouble navigating
the benefits system? Worried about un-and-under employment issues?

Workfare and JSA Claimants Public Meeting

Thursday 5th July
St Peter’s Church Hall
Laleham Road, Staines TW18 2DX
7pm – 9pm

Workfare is a government led scheme which places people who have been
claiming Jobseekers Allowance, and are unable to find employment, onto
work placements. This results in unemployed people being forced to work
for private companies without pay. We believe this is completely
inappropriate, undermining the jobs for workers which do exist, and
placing the burden of a collapsing economy upon those least to blame for
it.

Come and find out more about workfare and people’s experiences of it, why
it should be resisted, and how to avoid ending up on workfare yourself!

This meeting is of particular interest to anyone who is currently
unemployed and/or claiming benefits, or who is taking part in any of the
five workfare schemes.

Food and drink will be available at the venue. If you wish to make use of
crèche facilities, please email us before Tuesday 3rd July at
